Information we receive

If you submit a review, we receive the name, star rating, and comment you provide. Reviews stay private while editors moderate them. Approved reviews display your submitted name, rating, and comment on the story. Rejected reviews are removed. To limit repeated submissions and login attempts, the server converts your IP address and request context into a keyed one-way hash and stores a short-lived counter in MongoDB; the limiter does not store the raw IP address.

Staff accounts contain a name, email address, role, and hashed password. Staff sessions use an HTTP-only cookie so the browser can access the editorial desk.

Advertising and cookies

When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a reader’s previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to serve personalized ads based on those visits. Depending on consent, location, and account configuration, Google may instead serve non-personalized ads.

Advertising vendors may receive or collect information through cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve, personalize, limit, and measure advertising. Readers can manage or opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ads Settings and can learn about choices for other participating vendors at YourAdChoices. Where required, the site presents a consent message that lets readers accept, reject, or manage advertising choices and later revisit those choices. If AdSense is not configured, the site does not load its advertising script.

How information is used

We use review submissions to provide moderated reader discussion, staff information to operate the publication, and basic server logs to maintain and secure the service. Review records remain until removed by the publication; a fixed deletion schedule has not yet been established.
